Hello, I am an ear, nose, and throat specialist

VIKTOR SOLOVJOV

I was born on August 31, 1953, at the Tallinn Republican Hospital (ITKH). My father dedicated half a century of his life to this hospital. During my school years, I worked there in various roles. After finishing secondary school, there was only one choice for me – medicine. Thanks to the moral and material support of my father, that dream became a reality. For nearly half a century, my spouse has been a steady pillar of support. Together, we have raised three children.

Kollektiivne looming

Medicine is a collective creation. The most important element is the teacher.

It was a great privilege to be a student of those mentioned above, as well as hundreds of others. An even greater joy is working alongside people who don’t just go to work — they live their passion. I have been lucky to experience this joy throughout my years of study and practice. The outstanding anesthesiologists at Fertilitas are capable of treating patients of all ages. With extensive maternity hospital experience, Dr. Imbi Blumfeldt and Dr. Oleg Sertšenkov are skilled enough to care for even premature newborns. The participation of anesthesia nurses Natalia Nikitenko, Anna Marinitš, Marina Volkova, and Jelena Derdjuk during surgery ensures safe anesthesia. Operating room nurses Zinaida Tšernikova and Eda Fink, with their exceptional experience, are even able to advise novice surgeons. Such top-level professionals, excellent support staff, and high-quality equipment across all workplaces have made it possible to offer outstanding medical service.

Kirurgia

EAR SURGERY

From auricle and ear canal surgeries to middle ear procedures that restore hearing.

I have worked continuously on otosclerosis and tympanic cavity surgeries since 1985.

These skills were acquired during a two-year training program in Leningrad.

NASAL AND PARANASAL SINUS SURGERY

I received excellent training in Leningrad from Dr. Aleksei Usanov, who specialized in sphenoid sinus pathology.

The experience gained allowed me, between 1998 and 2007, to perform transnasal pituitary tumor removals through the sphenoid sinus at PERH, together with Dr. Andres Ellamaa, Dr. Rein Viilu, and Dr. Mihkel Leiner.
The developed method was significantly less traumatic for patients than traditional transcranial surgeries.
The same team also operated on acoustic nerve tumors.

At Tallinn Children’s Hospital, we performed surgeries for congenital anomalies and head tumors in newborns and children, occasionally with assistance from ophthalmic surgeon Dr. Artur Klet.

Operations for congenital and acquired deformities, tumors, and inflammatory conditions of the external nose, nasal cavity, and sinuses continue to take place weekly.

The equipment used includes endoscopes, micro-drills and saws, shavers, and CELON technology.

PHARYNGEAL AND ORAL CAVITY SURGERY

The most frequent procedures in this area are tonsillectomies and adenoid removals.

ENDOSCOPIC SURGERY OF THE LARYNX AND VOCAL CORDS

The first laser-assisted surgeries of this kind were carried out in 1984 in Leningrad with Prof. Mart Kull and Prof. Marius Pluzhnikov.
These were pioneering efforts in the country at the time.

Wider adoption of endoscopic microsurgery of the larynx began in PERH in the early 2000s after appropriate equipment was acquired.
This method is also used today at the private Fertilitas Hospital.

Modern techniques include the use of a microscope, a specialized laryngoscope, microsurgical instruments, and laser if needed.

DIAGNOSTICS before surgery involves the use of endoscopes, video recording, and biopsy.
My first experience with OLYMPUS bronchoscopes and a four-week internship took place at the Pulmonology Institute in Leningrad in 1985.
Today’s equipment is significantly more advanced.

NECK SURGERY

During my oncology studies, I learned vascular surgical techniques with Dr. Jaanus Pikan and thyroid surgery from Dr. Arvo Ulla.

I owe the practical consolidation of this knowledge to a great friend, exceptional mentor, and brilliant surgeon Dr. Niels Conradt Haug.

Together, from 1992 to 1998, we performed numerous surgeries on the thyroid, neck, and other complex cases requiring surgical expertise.
